Wins Outstanding Website AwardCHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA (December 9, 1999)- Sports Media Challenge, a strategic communication training and consulting company, has won a top award for its website from the Web Marketing Association. More than 700 sites from around the world were judged in the competition. http://www.sportsmediachallenge.com was selected as a "1999 Outstanding Website" based on its "design, innovation, content, interactivity, navigation, ease of use and use of technology." In just three years, Sports Media Challenge's website has become the premiere online resource for communication solutions for high profile athletes, coaches and sports administrators at all levels. Other award winners included such companies as ESPN, Bell Atlantic, Sony Pictures, Andersen Consulting, and the Discovery Channel.
"Our goal is to become the most recognized communication resource in sports, so it was critical to be on the leading edge of technology," says, Kathleen Hessert, President of Sports Media Challenge. "Our site is both a popular and invaluable resource among some of the most accomplished sports figures today. But from my perspective, it has to also draw young and emerging athletes to fulfill its potential. An added benefit is it's attraction from our corporate clients exploring use of the Internet for global communication and training," Hessert adds. Sports Media Challenge also developed the strategic plans and continues to manage content for NFL quarterback, Peyton Manning's web site. Sports Illustrated recently called Manning's website the best in the NFL. (November, 1999)
Marketing and New Media Director, Rafi Shikoh, who oversees technology development for Sports Media Challenge, says the project was envisioned as a marketing tool and has helped build the Sports Media Challenge brand as well as bringing new clients and international media exposure to the company.
"This award demonstrates that small entrepreneurial companies like ours can develop cost effective, exciting and valuable websites that can compete with the big boys," Shikoh says. The company is currently in key discussions with some Fortune 500 companies to develop new online training services to impact the growing global economy.
Since it's launch in early 1997, the Sports Media Challenge website has offered discussions and analysis of hot topics in the news, celebrity interviews, interactive skills tests and discussion forums for coaches, athletes, and sports administrators in a highly interactive and easy to use environment.
