Bill Arnsparger references Kathleen Hessert's Media Success tips in his new book as THE defensive play in preparing for the media.
Bill Arnsparger, perhaps the most successful defensive coach in NFL history shares his personal philosophies, experience and knowhow for creating a winning team in his book Coaching Defensive Football. In the Media Relations section of his book(pg. 233) Coach Arnsparger references the "Pocket Guide to Media Success" as the defensive tool for all coaches when preparing to face the media. Following is the excerpt from the book, referencing the "Pocket Guide To Media Success" :
"Midway through my career, I ran across the Pocket Guide to Media Success. Looking back, I wish it had been my good fortune to have found this information during my school years, while attending a clinic, or even while in a media conference. It would have been nice to have had it early in my career. As coaches, we have to deal with the media, in some cases daily. We need to keep things in mind as we meet. The media have the responsibility to report the news. The coach has a responsibility to the team, to each individual, and to school or organization he represents to do all he can to ensure that the news is reported accurately. The Pocket Guide has proved valuable to me. Looking it over before a meeting helps me tremendously."
