INTERVIEWWHAT'S ALL THE FUSS?
Maximizing Media Exposure
Standing Up to Negative Inquiries
So the angle is negative! Avoid using and repeating negative words or phrases. It reinforces them. Follow the ABC Formula to handle hostile questions:
Acknowledge emotions and the right to different opinions. Bridge to your point of view with linking phrases.
Concisely state your position.Example: "Nothing seems to be working for you lately." Response: "It may seem that way, but from my perspective, I'm making real progress.
Facing the media is always challenging because of the risk involved. However, going into an interview well prepared, positions you to answer any question successfully. Preparation requires learning new techniques, which can be found in books, magazines, and Websites. Use interviews to promote your agenda - to win new fans and enhance current support, including that of sponsors. Remember: there are no bad questions, but you need to know how to seize the opportunity.
